BC Funding For Creating New Child Care Spaces
BC has new funding available to create additional licensed child care facilities which are much needed in this area. Numbers currently show Rossland only has spaces for 14% of the children that may need child care. If you've considered opening a facility but finances have been a barrier look for BC's New Spaces Fund for more information: http://www.gov.bc.ca/childcare/newspacesfund . Deadline for applications is November 16, 2021.

Bump!
5 years ago the city of Rossland declined to renew Ilo's Playschool lease of the miners hall basement resulting in the closing of this 25year childcare service. They did fundraise to renovate the miners hall replacing the pre school with spin bikes and a vacant space for a couple years. I'm glad to see they are helping again by promoting someone start from scratch with fundraising to open more childcare services...
indeed, those are the facts.
the “City of Rossland“ has been fortunate to have many services;
Hospital - gone
Police station - gone
Cooke Elementary school - gone
Mclean Elementary school - gone
Rossland Secondary School - gone
Old Fire hall and City Hall - gone (34k)
City hall on mainstreet - gone (?$) - sent out notices to all to shovel roofs, didn’t take the time to shovel their own.
Ilo’s Amazing Day Care in the miners hall - gone
....after twenty five years of exceptional saintly commitment to fostering
the development of our sons/daughters/nieces and nephews.
In light of so much being detracted from our community in such a short time,
we do in fact have a ‘no idling bylaw’.
Let’s all apply it to a positive policy change in our community.
